INSULATION MATERIALS | Back to top

Hayward Refractories are the Eastern Cape leader in design, supply and installation of a broad range of thermal insulation products. These reduce energy consumption and emissions in varied high temperature processing applications.

We align ourselves with design, product recommendation and installation. Added to this we also provide data sheets on all products sold together with the relevant safety data sheets. Thermal calculations can be provided together with recommended applications. Our aim is to arrive at a solution for insulation applications and to install the correct material for each application. Our materials ensure that our client receives reliability and long life, together with energy saving.

Typical insulation products available include specialized insulation specific refractory cements, insulating Fire Bricks, culites, ceramic fibre boards, blankets, modules, blocks as well as calcium silicate boards. We also stock ropes, webbing tapes, ceramic fibre paper, coreweave and doritweave clothes and are abel to source and supply most types of specific insulation requirements.

FOUNDRY AND ALUMINUM | Back to top

The word “refractory” implies the ability of the material to retain its strength while under high temperature. We are the authorized agents for the Calderys range of refractory cements which range from general purpose 1500 – 1600 degree refractory boiler cements right up to bubble alumina based 1800 degree specialized application water mixed cements.

We have experience in the use of specialized “non-wetting” cements for use in the aluminum industry

  INSTALLATIONS | Back to top

In addition to the sale of high quality refractory products we are also able to attend to general refractory installation requirements. Our trained team has a broad scope of experience including bricklaying, casting and curing of refractory cements and the insulation of ovens and furnaces.
Where required we can call in the assistance of technical expertise from companies such as AMETSA, Calderys and Thermal Ceramics to give guidance on any installation work currently being attended to.

In the aluminum industry our team has casted aluminum transfer ladles, broken out and relined high pressure aluminum casting furnaces and designed and built insulation lids to maintain temperature in holding ladles. Also we have broken out and relined various sizes and types of induction furnaces including the application of the coil-cote and the slip plain prior to the vibration of the material into place.

In the Foundry industry our team has had extensive experience in casting transfer ladles as well as the application of linings to induction furnaces and ASEA furnaces that are used for melting purposes by our customers. The lining of holding baths, salt pots and lead baths has also been attended to successfully and to the satisfaction of our customers.

Experience in the application of an array of insulation linings to various ovens, roller hearth and heat treatment furnaces is a key strength of ours. We own and operate our own stud welding unit for the application of ceramic fibre modules, blankets and boards and other types of insulation materials.
We also repair chamber furnaces of various sizes including the laying of various types and qualities of insulation bricks. We can supply elements, muffle boxes and thermocouples when requested by our customers.

We own and operate a portable gas curing burner along with the thermocouples and data-logger to record and monitor temperature. The use of the burner depends on the application. Our experience also includes lining boilers in the timber industry, working on cremation units as well as brickwork and casting in the cement industry. We have built and repaired pizza and bread ovens for restaurants and bakers and have assisted customers who wish to enhance their entertaining experience at home with a better quality braai or pizza oven. We see our installation team as a key driver of business growth into the future and take time and effort to invest in the individuals in the team to ensure a high quality of workmanship at all times.

FIREBRICKS AND CRUCIBLES | Back to top

We are the suppliers of the full range of crucibles from Morgan Metal Systems. Included in the range are pyro-sheaths for thermocouple insulation and protection. The crucibles are imported and are hand made in Germany to the highest quality standards and specifications. Our customer base makes use of the crucibles in induction, radiant heat and fuel burning furnaces.

Given the specific use of the crucibles they generally are made to order or else if they are a standard item they do carry a lead-time of up to 12 weeks from date of order. We are able to cater for and service all the customers who have to date requested our assistance with the crucibles.

Our firebricks are sourced from the leading local manufacturer based in Vereeniging. We carry stock of the standard sizes of regular duty firebricks in the 230x114x76 size including side arch and end wedge sizes. We also hold stock of the firebricks split in the 230x114x25mm size. We do supply high duty and super duty bricks to a range of customers in our area. We do source specific size bricks for customers on demand but these would require a lead-time prior to delivery.
Our firebricks are used extensively across a broad range of applications from bricks kilns to pizza ovens to stoker kilns and boiler units.
